UCLA is going to the Final Four—again! Three years in a row. Now the team needs to finish the job and bring home banner number 12. Solid all-around game today. Was really getting tired of the “Bruins are lucky” or “bought the refs” crybabies. Especially ESPN hacks. Bruins left no doubt today. On to San Antonio where if they play like today, banner 12 is in sight.

First apologies to my wife, kids, (no Jamie, Daddy is not crazy!) neighbors, City of Long Beach. I was just a little “tense” and “loud” during the game. That’s why they call it March Madness! Now that I have calmed down and my heart rate is back to normal I can write this. My Bruins pulled out a tough win over a very physical Texas A&M team. Down by 10 in the second half, Darren Collison and Kevin Love willed UCLA to a dramatic victory. Seven blocked shots, tough fall-aways by Love and driving layups by Collison to save the Bruins from an early exit in the tournament. The rest of the team, well not so good. Good “block” by Josh Shipp at the end though to seal the win. The others will need to step it up for us to go further. Go Bruins!

One of the principles that I try to live by is to reserve a daily time with God for self examination, Bible reading and prayer in order to know God and His will for my life and to gain the power to follow His will. Some may call this meditation, which is something I have tried but have never been successful with. When sitting quietly and trying to listen to God, my mind wanders, I am easily distracted, noises disturb me—its just something I really struggle with. I have been looking for a way to improve my “conscious contact” with God and have been hearing about a devotional called Solo. The book’s main goal is Read the rest of this entry »

Well it is time for the madness to begin. UCLA just won the Pac Ten Tournament by beating Stanford—again. It was close but Darren Collison carried the team to a big win. They beat sc and Cal along the way. Hopefully the Bruins can make another strong run to the Final Four and take home the title this year. With Kevin Love and Collison playing strong at this point in the year we have a great chance.

Huge win by my Bruins in OT. Great come back victory. Questionable call at the end of regulation–perhaps. But there were missed calls on both sides. Pac 10 Champs three years in a row!

Big game tonight for the Pac 10 basketball championship. Also for possible number 1 seed in the west for the NCAA tournament. Anyone who knows me stays away when the Bruins are playing especially when its a big game. To say I am a fan is an understatement. Go Bruins!

My son’s Cub Scout den went over to Long Beach City College’s TV and Radio department. They got to see how TV shows are created, taped a short Shrek scene and visited the radio station. He loves to talk and jumped at the chance to be interviewed on the radio. Everyone agreed that he is a future talk show host in the making. Thanks KLBC crew!
